YOUNG Q-DOGG

Interview By Shauna Harris

Free Ambition: Where are you from?

Young Q-Dogg: Born and raised in Milwaukee...I currently still reside in Milwaukee, but I could potentially relocate.

Free Ambition: How old were you when you knew you had a talent for spitting lyrics, and wanted to pursue a music career?

Young Q-Dogg: Just a little after the 8th grade (13, but 15 really), but it took a while for lyrics to actually get there.

Free Ambition: Where did you shoot the video for “What Game You In”?

Young Q-Dogg: It was shot on the strip between 14th and 18th and Keefe.

Free Ambition: What do you want the streets to know about you?

Young Q-Dogg: I'm not in this game to hate on anybody's work, and would like to help uplift. I'm a humble person, and is not trying to be involved in nothing crazy or fictional, I myself have a publishers license and I control my own work 100% and anybody can holla at me I keeps it real at all times and is open to anyone

Free Ambition: What is your message in your music?

Young Q-Dogg: I try to enforce being your own person, be confident and apply yourself because no matter who you are or where you come from. You can succeed if you find something and stick to it. I'm still covering more as I go, but I also try to tell people that survival is important because once your life is over,  that's it. You really only get this life one time. There's more than 1 way of making money. Most artists I come across limit themselves, therefore they don't get to far because they don't allow themselves so expand above and beyond.

Free Ambition: Do you think real Hip Hop is dead?

Young Q-Dogg: I never thought it died to begin with. The message just got lost, and there's not many artists taking the music seriously that they make, and mainstream radio doesn't play everything. Sometimes it's better to go with what you know.

Free Ambition: What do you bring to the music scene in Milwaukee?

Young Q-Dogg: Passion, hard work, dedication, cooperation, and unity (if that's in anybody's vocabulary).

Free Ambition: Who have you worked with in the music industry?

Young Q-Dogg: Honestly no major artist yet but I've worked with a few PR (Public Relation) Firms as far as campaigning.

Free Ambition: Are you going to put Mil-Town on the Hip Hop map?

Young Q-Dogg: Well honestly I can't say I will; but the overall output is I can't do it by myself. However I would like to help put the spotlight on the Hip-hop music scene here in Mil-Town; because there are some talented artists in this city that can also do the same thing. But all artists, including myself, would have to keep in mind that you have to put something else on the table other than a record. There also has to be movements, and campaigns that can increase awareness of new music.

Free Ambition: What has been some of the obstacles that you have run into, trying to be an successful music artist?

Young Q-Dogg:  I run into lots of so called “constructive criticism” but not as much as I used too. After the positive feedback started coming I stop listening to opinions and just started controlling what I can. But the bigotry I encounter is what keep me motivated.

Free Ambition: How can people follow Young Q-Dogg on social media?

Young Q-Dogg: Well I'm on Facebook and Twitter 24/7 to connect with me just got to my website http://youngqdogg.tunefreak.com/ and Click the “Contact” tab don't forget to sign my guestbook before you leave.

Free Ambition: Who inspired you to pursue greatness in your life?

Young Q-Dogg: My grandmother overall, because she's that person you never want to disappoint. But I've also lost relatives and friends, so I strive for my people that didn't get to have that chance....I hold all my loved ones down.

Free Ambition: What has made you stronger as person?

Young Q-Dogg: Learning to do research, thinking positive, exercising my mind, observing, and overcoming difficult moments. You have to exercise your mind in order to mature and maintain self-control so you can be a stronger person

Free AmbitionOut of all of your songs, which is your

favorite on to ride to?

Young Q-Dogg:Well I have lots of songs I like to ride to, and

honestly don't like one better than the other. I usually leave that to

the listeners, I just have fun making the music, although it's hard

work.

Free Ambition: Where do you see yourself in a year?

Young Q-Dogg: Having my first album out and my label situated along with my personal life being in a comfortable position for that time being.

Free Ambition: Where do you shop?

Young Q-Dogg: Well I don't have select stores no matter where I am If I like something I buy it.

Free Ambition: What is your fashion style?

Young Q-Dogg: I mainly wear loose clothing, I can wear something cheap and look like a million dollars! But I still rock Girbauds,

White T's, Black T's and I switch up to something new outside my regular likes, but I never know what its going to be until I go see it.

Free Ambition: Who is your favorite music artist?

Young Q-Dogg:  2Pac. This was really the everyday music when I was younger in my household and due to the west coast dominating the radio airwaves at the time that was pretty much all we were hearing everyday besides the few artist that existed out of the east at the time.
